The show kicked off with Fetty’s 1738 squad hyping up the crowd and they without a doubt did A1 as they had the crowd going crazy from the very start. They had a number of opening acts that I was not familiar with, but nonetheless they were dope. From island singers to rappers to choreographed performers, there was not one silent moment at the HOB with the back to back acts.
From the very start, Post Malone had the place lit as he opened with his 2015 hit (that still goes hard) “White Iverson”. He followed his famous track by running through other songs from his summer EP such as “Too Young”, “What’s Up”, and even did a cover of 50 Cent’s “Window Shopper”. He ended off his set by performing “White Iverson” one more time for the audience (like I said, that song goes too hard to only hear once) and had the crowd chanting every word just as loud as his first time performing it. The New York native spread nothing but good vibes as he had the biggest smile throughout his entire performance proving to Chicago that he is one to watch out for this year of 2016.
Next up…Fetty Wap. There are no words to describe the enthusiasm the crowd carried when Fetty and his 1738 team came out. They showed mad love for the Chi as they each rocked a Chicago Bulls jersey. Fetty also brought out his right hand man, or as he called it “the Scotty Pipen to my Michael Jordan”… Remy Boy Monty. They went through their biggest hits “My Way”, “Jimmy Choo”, and “679″. Fetty showed Chicago his humility as he took the time between each track to talk about his appreciation for everyone he has in his life. He talked about his team, grandfather, and even gave thank to his fans. He explained that he recently injured his leg due to a serious motorcycle accident, but used his fans as motivation to continue the tour and progress as an artist. It was pretty dope to see such an influential artist have such a humble side to him…(YOU GO FETTY!) He then ended the show with the track that introduced him to the world… “Trap Queen”. He had every person in the venue dancing and singing which was the best way to end the night. So with that being said, the “Welcome To The Zoo” tour was hella dope.
