The world was rocked with the news of the death of David Bowie, one of the most innovative, creative, eclectic and enigmatic artists we’ve ever seen. Tributes have been pouring in from fans and fellow artists alike, so it’s natural that some of these would express their love for the Starman via a tribute cover. Spoon’s Britt Daniel got in on the mix by releasing a cover of Bowie’s “Never Let Me Down.”
The band’s lead singer had written about Bowie’s passing the day before releasing his cover:
I went to bed early last night. Woke up at 3 and glanced at my phone. It’s 515 now and I’m realizing there’ll be no more sleep tonight. I was just saying last week isn’t it amazing how Bowie is still with us and we get another album from him? No other artist has meant as much to me personally or inspired my own songs as much. What a spirit. What an inspiration. What a shining example of the beauty that humanity can create. Bless him. -BD
