This is a song I instantly clicked on for the title alone, then I was captivated by the sweet artwork, and finally the music completed the trifecta of what I look for in new music to post.
Protomartyr came into my radar when they were featured on this year’s lineup for Pitchfork Music Fest but I never devoted the appropriate amount of time to really check them out and boy do I regret it. This song off The Agent Intellect (out 10/9 on Hardly Art) is one of the better cuts with a raw energy that’ll make you subconsciously clutch your fist and grind your teeth while you’re busy stomping your feeth. There’s no bravado here, but the lyrics do more than enough work to convey the angst.
