Disclosure is finally back and man it feels good! When they first arrived on the music scene, they tried to recreate a lot of Chicago House music (which is dope) but they’ve now definitely found their calling. Their latest album, Caracal, released this past Friday and it is filled with nothing but bangers. Since releasing their famous hit “Latch” featuring good friend Sam Smith in 2012, the duo has dropped hit after hit. Mixing some R&B vocals with their self produced beats, the combo will make you want to dance until you forget that the lyrics are so damn emotional. Disclosure can throw down like no other and the vocals they featured on this latest album just kill it. The album includes songs featuring, The Weeknd, Sam Smith, Lorde, Miguel, Gregory Porter, Kwabs, LION BABE, Nao, and Jordan Rakei. There is little to no flaw on Caracal (if you find one hit me up). Each song has its own vibe that can be created by no other artist.
After long deliberation… I bring you my top 5 off of Caracal. Check it out down below.
“Omen” Ft. Sam Smith
“Latch” was such a successful Sam Smith and Disclosure collaboration that a sequel collab track would be a hit or miss. But nonetheless I was very eager to see what they would create when they revealed they’d be working together again. But this song hit its high expectations. The track’s oh so smooth beat, accompanied by Smith’s vocals in a totally new way gave an unexpected but swoon worthy sound. Giving a new sound from “Latch”, “Omen” is definitely a smooth surprise.
“Bang That”
Bang That takes us back to Disclosure’s Chicago House beginnings and makes us want us to stay there. It’s hard to not vibe along to this song’s dope beat. Disclosure creates another sick song that is pretty different compared to the vibe that the rest of the album carries. The smooth R&B vocals on the rest of Caracal is perfectly balanced with purely rhythmic magic that is displayed in Bang That.
“Magnets” ft. Lorde
This song is without a doubt my favorite tune off of Caracal. Just yesterday Disclosure dropped the music video for “Magnets” featuring the New Zealand songstress and it accurately describes how you feel dancing along to this song. Lorde’s chill voice intertwined with the irresistible beat makes you want to dance for hours on end. This track definitely is going to be one will keep everyone replaying.
“Good Intentions” Ft. Miguel
Having released his album, Wild Heart (which also goes so hard), this past June, seeing Miguel’s name featured on the album was something I was really look forward to. Miguel brings so much soul to the album and you can’t help but listen to “Good Intentions” a couple times to learn the lyrics so you can sing along.
“Molecules”
Get your denim and colorful vintage bomber jackets; “Molecules” encompasses all that is groovy in 2015. “Molecules” is a feel good, head bopping, tune that needs to be left on replay for a while. Disclosure proves their versatility with this one. That is what is so raw about this album. When a new track starts playing, you get a total different vibe from the last song that played, yet all the songs come together which creates an overall dope album.
So a big shoutout to Disclosure for giving the world such great music!
