For the forthcoming season Inter Milan will play in a unique away kit that evokes the club’s past triumphs and its close historical bond with the city of Milan. The 2015-16 away kit is in clean, classic white and sports a modern update on the traditional black and blue horizontal chest band, a recurring feature of Inter Milan away shirts since the Sixties, and notably in 1990-91.
The new away kit celebrates the 25th anniversary of the historic season in which the club won its first UEFA Cup, spearheading an incredible run of success that saw Inter claim three UEFA Cups trophies total (1993-94 and 1997-98) in the span of seven seasons.
The shirt’s chest band appears to follow Inter Milan tradition, but on close inspection reveals a subtle black and blue tonal print depicting the scales of Il Biscione. Synonymous with Milan since the 13th century, the snake features on the emblems of two of Milan’s ruling families. The icon also appeared on Inter Milan’s 2010/11 away kits.
The Inter Milan away kit will be on sale from nike.com, store.inter.it and in stores starting July 9.
