Last night we were lucky enough to witness one of the best concerts of the year thanks to UK twosome Royal Blood. The power duo played the hallowed stage at the Metro in Chicago’s north side this past Wednesday night and delivered a set that left everyone in attendance effectively Rocked.
Mini Mansions were the show openers and their slender brand of groove Rock was a good counterbalance to what was to come later on. The band performed cuts off their excellent new project including the awesome “Vertigo” (sans Alex Turner) and a slow and beautiful cover of Blondie’s “Heart Of Glass.”
Royal Blood came out kicking and screaming right from the start, yet another demonstration of why they’re worthy of all the praise they’ve been receiving from the likes of none other than Led Zeppelin guitarist/mastermind Jimmy Page. The band is electric, filled with raw power, and with an aura that’s rarely seen in Rock bands today. Their set included songs like “Figure It Out” (above), “Loose Change” and “Out Of The Black.”
