Last night Redd’s Wicked Apple and AFROPUNK held the “The Most Wicked Party,” an event held in celebration of the mischievously awesome Redd’s Wicked Apple. The Chicago party; which is part of a larger Redd’s Wicked Apple and AFROPUNK program that also includes events in Atlanta, D.C., and LA; featured homegrown talent that’s making strides nationwide like stand up comedian and Broad City star Hannibal Buress along with G.O.O.D. music’s latest addition, Holt.
The party was lit of course thanks to AFROPUNK at the reins and with a Redd’s Wicked Apple in each guest’s hands (unless they got that Redd’s Wicked Mango, which was pretty legit). Those in attendance were not only to treated drinks and a show, but there was also a Hebru Brantley piece to admire along with a scavenger hunt that gave guests a chance to receive exclusive prizes.
On the performance front it was awesome getting to see the new incarnation of the artist formerly known as Hollywood Holt (now just Holt) and getting more justification as to why Yeezy’s label turned their sights on him. Hannibal Buress is one of our favorite comedians here at POD and while this was a weird gig for him, the short set still delivered some laughs. Danny Brown, well what else can we say about this man? The Detroit rapper’s concerts are like no other, with an explosive energy and Brown’s undeniable stage presence, and this performance was no different. It’s not without merit that we consistently write about this guy and that his last album landed on our 2013 list of the Dopest Albums of the Year, so his headlining performance was the crowning moment of the night.
