Berkeley, California’s iconic DIY Punk venue 924 Gilman was home to a vibrant scene in the late 80s that saw the early days of bands like AFI and The Offspring. The club was also the venue that helped Green Day
Billy Joe Armstrong and the rest of the band was banned from the club about 14 years ago when they ditched their underground scene for mainstream success, but last night they were welcomed back to perform on that hallowed stage to play secret benefit concert to raise money for AK Press, a DIY publishing house which recently lost its warehouse in a fire.
