Jack White returned to play the hallowed stage of Madison Square Garden last night for the first time in almost a decade to put on a show worthy of the setting. Just like he did in Nashville just days before, White had a major surprise waiting for the encore, stunning the crowd with a previously inconceivable collaboration with A Tribe Called Quest master Q-Tip.
The Guitar God and the Rap God took the stage together to perform White’s “That Black Bat Licorice” and then proceeding to perform Tribe classic “Excursions.” The whole thing was stunning, to say the least. This was just another part of the Hip Hop performances that made waves last night, since Run The Jewels’ live collabo with Zach De La Rocha in the opening slot was also a big moment.
Largely thanks to this very collaboration, last night NYC was the center of the universe of dopeness. See that performance above.
