Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon is set to release her memoir, Girl in a Band, on February 24th and to help support it she will be hitting the road for an 11-date book tour.
Each stop on the tour will see the storied bassist doing a Q&A session with a different music or literary figure including the likes of Sleater-Kinney guitarist/Portlandia star Carrie Brownstein, Superchunk drummer Jon Wurster, singer-songwriter Aimee Mann and Sub Pop co-founder Bruce Pavitt. The Chicago stop will be part of the Chicago Humanities Festival’s “Winter 2015” lineup and will feature a performance from Girls Rock! Chicago.
Girl in a Band looks back at her life as a musician and artist, the rise of the band, and her personal and artistic relationship with former husband/bandmate Thurston Moore.
