There are just a handful of Christmas songs that are timeless and stand above the rest, one of those being the classic that is the Phil Spector-penned/Darlene Love-performed “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).” The song has been a hit since its 1963 debut and David Letterman was such a fan that he recruited Darlene Love to perform it on his show since 1986. Love had performed the tune for the Late Show host every year since then but with Letterman set to retire in a few months, this would be the last time she would ever perform it on such a stage since she told The New York Times that she wouldn’t sing it for any other talk show hosts after him.
