After 14 years of absence, D’Angelo has returned with Black Messiah (see what I did there?). The R&B crooner made use of an intimate listening party to unleash the new project onto the world, the record’s co-producer Questlove given the task of pressing play for the lucky few in attendance to end the wait.
Credited as D’Angelo and The Vanguard, Black Messiah is 12-tracks deep with features including the likes of Questlove and Q-Tip. The music is the rich, soulful R&B that made him an icon and the themes found in the lyrics range from the political/socially-conscious kind to his signature voice that may very well be responsible for perhaps millions of children being born in the 21st Century.
