She & Him’s covers album, Classics, is due out soon and today they delivered another great cut from that album with their tribute to Jazz standard “Stars Fell On Alabama.” The song, written in 1934, has been covered by anyone from Dean Martin to Frank Sinatra, and Billie Holiday, but perhaps one of the best-known versions is Ella Fitzgerald & Louie Armstrong‘s interpretation of the tune.
Deschanel’s warm voice fits in perfectly with this song and this version turned out to be something that can be appreciated much like some of the older renditions.
