History has long told us about how Rick Rubin, one of the few remaining super producers in the music world today, founded his label in his dorm room at NYU but it’s hard to imagine that he’d never been back ever since leaving upon graduation. Rolling Stone Films arranged for Rubin to finally visit room 712 after some 30 years and he gives all a look at how Def Jam came to life.
