The Foo Fighters have generated a huge buzz these days thanks to the forthcoming release of new album Sonic Highways, and the latest major media pickup for the band is CBS’s 60 Minutes. Anderson Cooper introduced the band as “one of the last remaining great Rock bands,” and focused this piece on the Foo’s ambitious project of releasing an album that’s recorded in different cities across the US with the lyrics and sounds of each song reflecting the unique musical heritage of the respective city in which they recorded each song, and the HBO docu-series that details the making of it.
Grohl reveals to Cooper that “Foo Fighters Is the dumbest band name ever” and we see a bit more of that first episode that focuses on Chicago’s significance to his career, plus we see why the band’s trip to New Orleans invigorated the band’s spirit.
