Today was a special date for fans of US Soccer as it saw long-time captain and all-time leading goal scorer, Landon Donovan, retire from competitive play from the National Team. Arguably the best player for the United States on the international stage, “LD” scored 57 goals for the USMNT from 2000 to 2013; unluckily he didn’t get to put one in the back of the net one last time in his farewell match.
As a fan of the Mexican National Team, I suffered through some of “Landy Cakes’ ” best moments because they would often come against my team, but even I can’t deny the immense talent this guy had and just how big of an impact he’s had for the sport in this country. See all of his goals above.
