Ricky Dubs is on it once again, this time he connects Chicago’s own Mick Jenkins with YC The Cynic on “Keep it 100”. The track is from Ricky’s upcoming project titled, Senor Dubs which is set to be released on September 3rd.
“Mick Jenkins and Yc The Cynic on the same track, what more can you ask for? Dubs’ jazzy production lays the foundation for the two Mc’s to trade bars with the “you can’t tell me nothing” attitude. Mick starts the track with supreme confidence, stating that he “can teach you bout bars like the DEA” and how its hard to find another Mc that can match his lyrical abbiltity. Well, we found one. Yc The Cynic comes right off the bat with his usual ferocity and bragadocious rhymes. He also touches on the recent police brutality that we have been seeing all summer. Instead of having the Mc’s come up with a hook, Dubs’ wanted to showcase his talents as a DJ and lay an eight bar scratch of Mick’s line “we want the real”, because these two keep it nothing but 100 the whole time.”
