One of the most storied teams in Mexican soccer, Club America, have unveiled their new Home and Away Kits for the forthcoming 2014-15 and they are some real beauties. The home kit returns to the original colors that América wore in its founding years starting in 1916, a “creamy” yellow that lead to the team being nicknamed “azulcremas” (cream and blues). The shirt also sports a polo collar and the logo is featured prominently with the updated color scheme on the heart of the shirt to complete the vintage look. A blue pennant tab inside the back of the neck has a large yellow eagle to represent Club America’s nickname “Las Águilas” (The Eagles).
The away shirt is in dark blue with a crew neck design and creamy yellow cuffs, club crest and Nike swoosh. Inside the back of the neck is a pale yellow pennant tab with the defiant statement: “Ódiame Más” (Hate me more), their signature tagline in recent years that represents the “playful sentiment Club America players and supporters feel towards rivals envious of their status as one of Mexico’s biggest and most successful clubs.” As a die-hard, life-long fan of Club América, I couldn’t love this more.
The new home and away kit will be available at Nike Stores and other retailers on July 31.
