Last night Brooklyn’s Barclays Center held the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony that saw KISS, Nirvana, Hall & Oates, Cat Stevens, The E Street Band, Peter Gabriel and Linda Ronstadt become the new members of that elite collection of musicians that have forever changed the world.
While KISS fans (like myself) didn’t get a reunion performance, Nirvana did get top billing and took the stage with a little help from some lady friends. Joan Jett performed “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” St. Vincent did “Lithium,” Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) helped with “Aneurysm,” and Lorde did “All Apologies” (above). After the ceremony, the surviving members of Nirvana headed to a secret show that saw St. Vincent play “Heart Shaped Box” and J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.) joined them onstage as well.
