The final act to play (the first weekend of) Coachella 2014 was Arcade Fire and they proved to be a fine choice with a set chock-full of classics and new fan-favorites. The band was introduced by a man in a suit covered with mirrors and they went into “Reflektor,” with “Neighborhood #3 (Power Out),” “Rebellion (Lies),” “Afterlife,” and “The Suburbs” all being played throughout the night. Debbie Harry was brought onstage to help them perform her band’s (Blondie) classic, “Heart Of Glass” with Regine Chassagne singing some verses as well. The band closed off with an impassioned version of “Wake Up,” which ended with the band heading into the crowd in between the barricades and singing alongside fans, playing marching band style.
