The World Cup is just months away and today Portugal & Nike have unveiled the former’s new away kit for 2014. The jersey is designed with minimalism in mind. Plain white with a unique two-level stand collar and blue cuffs.
Inside the back of the neck is a white pennant tab featuring the Order of Christ, an evocative Portuguese cross that pays homage to the nation’s rich seafaring history. The cross radiated from the sails of the ships helmed by great Portuguese explorers during the 15th century.
The names and numbers on the back of the jersey are inspired by old typefaces used on traditional Portuguese signs, producing a font that is both contemporary and Art Deco.
