Today the Chicago Tribune‘s Greg Kot has leaked that this year’s headliners at Lollapalooza include Eminem, Arctic Monkeys, Skrillex and King of Leon. Revealed today, Kot cites that sources have confirmed with him that these are the names of the acts coming to Chicago’s Grant Park for the festival taking place August 1-3 and he gives a good summary of these artists’ history and what helped lead to their inclusion.
The headliners are pretty great overall, but not overly impressive; many of us expected names like OutKast, Kanye West and Daft Punk. Eminem is one of the most important artists in music today and of the few true icons making new, relevant music these days, but he was just at Lolla in 2011. Kings of Leon were awesome until about 2008 when Only By The Night came out. Arctic Monkeys and Skrllex on the other hand are making important strides in their own respective genres today and very well deserve headlining spots this year.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale next Tuesday, March 25.
