Earlier this month on the Vince Vaughn-hosted episode of SNL appeared a mockumentary clip for “History of Punk” where they give a look at a Sex Pistols-like fictitious Punk band fronted by Fred Armisen. Ian Rubbish and the Bizzaros, like the Pistols, had a problem with British authority (like the police and the Queen) but the comical twist here was that on top of all of that, Ian Rubbish (played by Armisen) somehow was actually a fan of the infamous “Iron Lady,” the late Margaret Thatcher. The clip tells the story of Rubbish’s fall from grace thanks to his devotion to Thatcher and making music about her, which is basically the opposite of Punk.
The former British Prime Minister passed away this month and SNL played this little tribute to her, which was a whole lot better than how Britain made “Ding Dong! the Witch is Dead” a hit after learning of her death.
