Sound City marks Dave Grohl’s directorial debut. The film is about Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California, or as Grohl describes it, “America’s greatest unsung studio.” Many classic albums of the past few decades were recorded there, including (Dave Grohl’s earlier band) Nirvana‘s Nevermind and records from Tom Petty, Guns N’ Roses, Fleetwood Mac and Metallica.
More details about the film after the jump.
Grohl has called on Petty, producers Rick Rubin and Butch Vig, as well as Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood (of Fleetwood Mac) and Josh Homme and Krist Novoselic (former band mates of Grohl’s) among others to help him tell the story of the legendary studio in the documentary.
