This shortened 2012 NBA season has given Bulls fans many things to cheer about. With the regular season ending tonight they have a shot to end it with the best record in the NBA. They locked in the number one seed in the eastern conference earlier this week, which gives them home court advantage in the playoffs.
They were able to do this in spite of Derrick Rose’s recent rash of injuries. Rose missed most of the second half of the season due to variety of toe, ankle, and groin injuries.
Despite his injuries this 2012 season has been a memorable one for the NBA MVP Derrick Rose. Two months after singing a five-year, $95 million contact extension with the Bulls, Rose signed a “lifetime” contract with Adidas. The contract was reported to be worth $260 million.
According to NBA.com, Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls have secured top spots as the NBA’s most popular jersey and team merchandise. The awards are based on the sales made at the NBA store on Fifth Avenue in New York as well as the online version of the store, NBAStore.com.
Something tells me that Derrick Rose will be receiving this award more than once in his career. LeBron James had the top selling jersey last year. Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers had the number one spot on the best selling jersey from 2001 to 2003 and again in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
