Last night the 2012 White House Correspondents’ Dinner took place at the Washington Hilton Hotel and it did not fail to please in the comedic department.
This year the event was headlined by host of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jimmy Kimmel. He started off his set with a special “White House Correspondent’s Dinner Edition” of his show’s classic “Unnecessary Censorship” bit. The rest of the comedian’s time at the podium saw him take jabs at celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan and George Clooney, Republican candidates Santorum, Paul, Gingrich and Romney and Mr. President himself. Overall, the set was quite funny but it didn’t stay all that true to the Kimmel’s comedy stylings and typical pace. Check out is set above.
The POTUS did pretty well himself, as was expected. His set was punched up with great bits about Mitt Romney, the rest of the candidates for the Republican party, and the secret service scandal, all of which he delivered with great comedic timing. Check out President Obama’s set below:
