Images of the 2013/2014 Nike kits for Spanish champions F.C. Barcelona have been released. Most importantly, the new kits eliminate the 2012/2013′s crappy-looking fading/blending effect made with the respective home and away colors, opting now for solid stripes. Matthew Lowton (Aston Villa) vs. Stoke City

Usually, if a goal (in soccer) makes it to the Top 10 on Sportscenter, it’s either a slow news day or it’s a hell of a goal. Frankly, Matthew Lowton’s goal against Stoke City over the weekend was a sensational goal and a potential goal of the year candidate. A Goals of the Week list would be difficult to form without having goals from Barcelona and Real Madrid (Higuaín’s goal coming close to winning top honors this week) and this list is no different. Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez (Manchester United) vs. Chelsea

Call me biased all you want for picking yet another Manchester United goal as the Goal Of The Week, but this was just spectacular. “Chicharito” scored an excellent header to (momentarily) give his side the lead. Another goal from that match made our list, as well as  goals from the Champions League, La Liga and the Brasileirão.

To commemorate Messi’s fourth consecutive Ballon D’Or title, adidas has come out with new Adizero F50 shoes. The black and gold shoes have four golden suns, like those on the Argentinian flag, with the years 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 that signify each year he’s won the title for best player of the year.

Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and current World Player Of the Year winner, Lionel Messi, are constantly pinned against each other. Now, in a promotional clip from Al Jazeera, the two La Liga players exchange some friendly-rival texts about their clash in the Superclásico in March.

Lionel Messi has beat out Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona teammate Andres Iniesta to win the 2012 Ballon D’Or award for the best player of the year.

Messi scored 91 goals between team and country and won a Copa Del Rey in 2012.

With this year’s title the Argentinian player has won his 4th straight title as best player in the world, the first ever to win as many titles, making him the greatest winner of the award of all time.

Lionel Messi is, without a doubt, the greatest goalscorer of his generation. Proof? With 86 goals in all of 2012, Messi breaks Gerd Muller’s 40-year old record of 85 goals in a calendar year set back in 1972 while playing for Bayern München and Germany.

With three games left for him in 2012, Messi has a chance at expanding that tally and further cementing his place in soccer history.
