Aside from the weather cooperating with Chicago, it’s definitely festival season here in the 2nd city. Staying in this weekend? DON’T! Chicago has something for everyone this weekend!

Like food? Head over to the North side of the city where Lincoln Park, Damen, and Irving Park meet to check out some of the city’s best ribs at RibFest Chicago. This will be going on Friday, June 7 through Sunday, June 9. Of course there will be live music as well as an amateur rib eating contest. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

If you’re from Chicago or have some Chicago history knowledge, you may know that blues music = Chicago. Head on over to Grant Park and enjoy some of the best musicians  to ever play blues music. The 30th Annual Chicago Blues Festival started yesterday, but will be going on through until Sunday night. This is definitely a festival that can’t be missed. Notable performers include Otis Clay, James Cotton, and Irma Thomas. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

Okay, you’re into ceramics, paintings, and other fine arts. Don’t worry, head on over to the 39th Annual Wells Street Art Festival in Chicago’s historic Old Town neighborhood. The annual art extravaganza features the works of more than 250 juried artists with the eclectic mix running the gamut from paintings, sculptures and glasswork to photography, ceramics, woodwork and much more. It also features the tasty cuisine of Old Town restaurants, the always-hoppin’ music stage, and a silent auction. The festival starts Saturday morning and goes on until Sunday afternoon. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

The Andersonville Midsommarfest is one of the region’s most eagerly anticipated and well-established summer festivals in Chicago. Born out of Andersonville’s Swedish heritage, the festival retains its quaint, international flavor. Old-world Swedish traditions, including a festive dance around the Maypole, are incorporated into an unrivaled array of entertainment for families and adults. A special family area includes face painting, games and a family stage with entertainment such as Nordic Folk dancers, a pet parade, and much more. The other three stages are filled all day with spirited music, including nationally renowned acts, guaranteed to get the crowd dancing. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

Events: Riot Fest 2013 Lineup [Update]

15 May

Festival lineup announcements are being made seemingly every other week, and now it’s Riot Fest’s turn. The formal announcement will be made later tonight at 10PM CT, so stay tuned for that later. and highlights include Fall Out Boy and Blink 182.

I attended Riot Fest last year when the lineup included Rise Against, Coheed & Cambria, Gogol Bordello, the Offspring and Iggy & the Stooges plus others. If this year’s fest boasts a lineup that can compare to the last one, Riot Fest 2013 will surely be another great Chicago music festival.

The Festival running from September 13-15 in Chicago’s Humboldt Park will also have Motörhead, Rancid, AFI, Blondie, Public Enemy and Violent Femmes.
