Events: Riot Fest 2013 Lineup [Update]

15 May

Festival lineup announcements are being made seemingly every other week, and now it’s Riot Fest’s turn. The formal announcement will be made later tonight at 10PM CT, so stay tuned for that later. and highlights include Fall Out Boy and Blink 182.

I attended Riot Fest last year when the lineup included Rise Against, Coheed & Cambria, Gogol Bordello, the Offspring and Iggy & the Stooges plus others. If this year’s fest boasts a lineup that can compare to the last one, Riot Fest 2013 will surely be another great Chicago music festival.

The Festival running from September 13-15 in Chicago’s Humboldt Park will also have Motörhead, Rancid, AFI, Blondie, Public Enemy and Violent Femmes.

Events: Rock The Bells 2013 Lineup Announced

15 May

Rock The Bells 2013‘s lineup has been revealed and it appears the 10th anniversary of the music fest is looking like it’ll be an awesome one. Rock The Bells X will feature artists like Big Krit, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Common, Danny Brown, Earl Sweatshirt, Kid Cudi, Talib Kweli, Tyler, The Creator and the Wu-Tang Clan.

The oddest bit of news though is the inclusion of “original virtual performances” by legends Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Eazy-E. This would be something cool to see…

The fest will be hitting San Bernardino (Sept. 7-8) and Mountain View (Sept. 14-15), CA, Washington, D.C. (Sept. 28-29), Rutherford, NJ (Oct. 4-5).

Yeah Yeah Yeahs Will Headline Q87.7′s PIQNIQ Festival

29 Apr

As if there weren’t enough reasons around that make summer in Chicago awesome, our local Alternative Rock (is that still technically the term/genre?) radio station Q87.7, has announced the launch of its first PIQNIQ festival. The new festival will take place at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre on June 29.

What may be the most important part about this announcement is that the fest’s headliners will be the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who are making their only appearance in Chicago(land). Some of the other bands that will be heading over to Tinley are Bush, AWOLNATION, Silversun Pickups, Cold War Kids, and Atlas Genius among others.
