Chicago’s quintessential improv theatre company, The Second City, has added to its tradition of serving as a springboard to Saturday Night Live by sending three of its alums to be a part of the new cast of SNL.
Aidy Bryant, a Columbia College grad, wrote and performed in The Second City e.t.c.’s We’re All in This Room Together and Sky’s the Limit (Weather Permitting). She’s also performed with iO Chicago and Annoyance Theatre.
Tim Robinson also joins the SNL cast. He performed in two revues on The Second City Mainstage including Spoiler Alert: Everybody Dies and South Side of Heaven.
Cecily Strong is an Oak Park native and had been performing with The Second City Touring Company since 2011 and also spent time at the iO Theater.
The SNL kicks off its 38th season on Sept. 15 with host Seth MacFarlane and musical guest Frank Ocean.
“As always, we are thrilled with the success of our alumni and wish them all the best as they journey to the next step of their careers at Saturday Night Live,” stated Andrew Alexander, Executive Producer of The Second City, Inc.
